It makes very little difference just green plants that process by photosynthesis. NASA made a study of using algae on deep space trips.

Keep doing what you're doing. Any plant absorbs which CO2 which supposedly causes global warming. Although I personally don't believe CO2 causes warming (it's only 1% of the greenhouse gases), I can say that the more plants you have, the more CO2 is absorbed.

Also, in response to the second answer, you actually emit less CO2 if you mow your lawn more because when your grass has to keep growing it absorbs more CO2 than your lawn mower emits.

Why even mower your lawn . The city keeps fining me because my grass is to high i tell them I'm fighting global warming they think I'm totally freaking nuts so now I'm being forced into being one of the people ruining the earth . Maybe i should just dig up the entire yard and put tomato plants in do you think that would help i can say its my garden not my yard.

Anyway i live in Michigan and the climate changes from day to day here always has and probably always will

All plants absorb CO2, grow what ever you like to eat and that grows well in your area.
