What is the best way to store dahlias?

The garage is too cold and not insulated. The basement is heated and a bit too warm. They usually sprout up in the storage containers and some don’t make it due to moisture.
Thanks for any suggestions!

You only need to take the dahlia tubers and place them up side down so any water or liquid within will drain out of them, whilst they are in a box but do not seal them or use plastic as This will make them sweat and then rot. If you live within the UK , depending on where you live ie:- south they will start sprouting from about early April/March. As you travel North it will be later ie:- Scotland is about 2/3 weeks later than say the South. Keep the Tubers cool and you shouldn’t have any problems Even I lose 2/3 tubers each year whilst over wintering so don’t worry to much.
