What is the best way to store dahlia bulbs?



This year I am storing them in trays of wet sand in my basement that has a winter temp of 40-45 degrees. Has anyone ever had any luck with this method?

    I tried storing dahlias in damp peat a few years ago, and they all rotted. There are fungicides made for this purpose, and I would apply some before storing the bulbs.
